MRI Project

BANNAR has given money to support a joint project between researchers in Bath and London, who are working together to try to develop better ways of measuring joint inflammation.

At UCLH in London, we have developed a method of measuring inflammation of joints in the spine using magnetic resonance imaging. The project is to find out if the MRI measurement tool works reliably when it is used at another rheumatology centre, in Bath. If we find that the tool is reliable, we could potentially use it to help personalise treatment by deciding which patients need disease modifying immunosuppressive treatments and when they need them.
